Nikunj Tanna and Dipti Sadalge had been together for quite some time, envisioning a wedding perhaps a year or two down the road. However, life had other plans, and they found themselves hastily arranging a wedding in India within a mere ten days. Sharing their whirlwind experience are these Boston-based pharmaceutical professionals. Let’s explore more with Wedifys.

Reflecting on the sudden turn of events, Nikunj shares, “It all started when my parents, visiting us here in Boston, casually broached the topic of our marriage. While we had discussed the idea of tying the knot in the future, we hadn't set a concrete timeline. It wasn't until we examined our work schedules and visa obligations that we realized we wouldn't be able to travel to India together for the next few years. That realization prompted us to make the decision to take the plunge sooner rather than later.

Once the decision was made, it felt like a whirlwind of chaos. We had less than 10 days to prepare before boarding the plane. Coordinating arrangements from afar was challenging; I was liaising with my brother and sister-in-law here, while Dipti coordinated with her mother. My brother then communicated with her parents in turn. With the time difference, we endured several sleepless nights here in Boston even before embarking on our journey. It was nerve-wracking to think about how everything would come together in Mumbai in such a short time frame.

What added to the tension was the feeling of helplessness—we could only communicate and hope for the best. Fortunately, we managed to secure a beautiful wedding venue, caterer, and decorator, and everything fell into place.”

Dipti adds, “As we boarded the plane, the reality sank in that within a week, we would transition from being a couple ‘in a relationship’ to being married. It was a rollercoaster of emotions—excitement, nervousness, tension, and sheer elation. Due to the time constraints, we had our engagement ceremony and wedding on the same day, with the engagement in the morning at 8:30 am and the wedding at 12:30 pm. My engagement almost turned into a disaster as I frantically searched for my engagement ring all over Mumbai. I spent three to four days visiting major jewelers, only to find that most rings didn't fit or weren't to my liking. With time running out, I made a last-ditch effort on Friday night, the eve of the engagement, and thankfully stumbled upon a ring that not only fit but also stole my heart. The relief I felt was indescribable; it was as if fate had intervened to script the perfect ending.”

Reflecting on their whirlwind wedding planning experience, Nikunj muses, “Whether you have two months or ten months to plan a wedding, the stress and tension are inevitable. We were fortunate to pull everything together in less than two weeks, but truth be told, it was an incredibly short timeframe. Two months, in my opinion, strikes the right balance—not too rushed, yet with ample time to attend to all the intricate details for the big day.”
