Sonal shares the inspiration behind it all: “So much can happen in just a year! 2021 began like everyone else’s, with a desperate wish to travel after the challenging year we all endured. When a friend encouraged me to tag along to Kashmir, it was an easy decision. I had no plans for accommodation, so my friend arranged for me to stay with another friend. I was excited yet hesitant about staying with a stranger until I was introduced to Nikhil, an IPS officer in Kashmir. Little did I know, he would become my husband in less than a year!”

She continues, “We had a brief engagement with no time for a pre-wedding photoshoot before our December 2021 wedding in Mumbai, so the idea of a post-wedding shoot in Kashmir deeply resonated with me. It was where our love story began, making it all the more special. With the help of my close friend Namit from Knotty Affairs, we planned a unique solo bridal shoot against the snowy backdrop of Kashmir.”

Sonal chose a variety of spots in Kashmir for the shoot. Iconic locations like Dal Lake showcased the region's striking beauty, while hidden gems away from the usual tourist paths added a personal touch. She shares, “The shots on the bridge were especially precious, marking the spot where I proposed to Nikhil. Other locations held great personal significance, allowing me to preserve those special memories.”

Honoring her Christian and Hindu roots, Sonal posed in both her red wedding lehenga and white reception gown, each looking magical against the pristine snow. She recalls, “We went to Sonmarg to shoot in the white Christian wedding gown, enduring extreme winds and knee-deep snow. Despite the challenging weather, we found a beautiful location near a river. The photographers struggled with their equipment, and I was practically soaked, but the Knotty Affair team remained professional and captured stunning shots. These ended up being my favorites, with candid moments interspersed with our genuine emotions, making the experience unforgettable. I highly recommend them to everyone!”
