Deriving inspiration from Indian art forms, nature, and their love for Lord Krishna, Brihati and Akshay’s Telugu wedding looked like something out of a storybook. Designed by Wedifys Favorite – Aara Decor and Design, this wedding turned heads with its creative flair and showcase of Indian art forms. Aparna Venkatesh & Saranya Gogineni from Aara Decor and Design shared the couple’s vision and how they brought it to life. They said, “Brihati and Akshay are devout followers of Lord Krishna, and hence, they wanted their wedding to be connected to their beliefs. Plus, they also love greenery! Featuring different flora, fauna, and art forms unique to India, the wedding looked like something out of a folktale storybook. Consistency in detail was key as the team used a plethora of hues and elements to ensure the guests were transported to a different world the moment they stepped into the venue. Larger-than-life floral arrangements, mirror work pillars, vintage paintings, artistic peacocks and deer, and garlands crafted from traditional Indian blooms completed the decor. For the structures, a cue was taken from the traditional temple architecture of India with ornate pillars and domed roofs. Additionally, Pichwai cutouts featuring Lord Krishna and cows were strategically placed to tie back to the Vrindavan theme.

Weddings are the couple’s canvas to express themselves unhesitantly. In Brihati’s case, she used this opportunity to showcase her love for tigers. Aparna & Saranya shared, “Our forte is our ability to customize a decor story keeping our clients’ preferences in mind. So, when Brihati let her love for tigers be known to us, we knew that we wanted to incorporate it into the wedding somehow! After fixing the theme, we brainstormed on how to include tigers in the mix and came up with a pretty artistic solution. We got in touch with renowned artist Apindra Swain who hails from Puri, Odisha, and he painted our papier-mâché tigers using the ‘pattachitra’ art form. As a result, these artistic creations fit right into the decor story and lent the venue a true forest-like ambience.”

Move over, clean lines! This year, artistic bohemian takes center stage. Think mismatched textures, vibrant colors, and a touch of controlled "messiness." Layer colorful geometric rugs under a minimalist arch, or combine rattan chargers with black glassware for a unique tablescape. This trend allows you to showcase your personalities through unexpected details, creating a celebration that feels authentic and full of life.

Eco-conscious couples are opting for sustainable practices, and weddings are no exception. Look for ways to minimize waste and reduce your carbon footprint. Rent decor items instead of buying them, source vintage finds from flea markets, and incorporate natural elements like branches or locally-sourced flowers. Use biodegradable confetti and opt for reusable favors – your guests and the planet will thank you!

Consider oversized industrial bulbs or vintage lanterns for an industrial-chic vibe. Uplight trees or architectural features for a dramatic effect, or use string lights to create a photo booth backdrop.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the centerpiece trend in 2024?
In 2024, the centerpiece trend leans towards incorporating natural elements and sustainability. Couples are opting for eco-friendly options like potted plants, succulents, or locally-sourced flowers arranged in reusable containers. Another popular trend is the use of non-floral centerpieces such as candles, lanterns, or even books stacked creatively to add a personal touch to the table settings.
How do I find wedding decor?
Finding wedding decor can be an exciting part of the wedding planning process. There are several avenues to explore, including:
1. Online Retailers: Websites like Etsy, Amazon, and dedicated wedding decor websites offer a wide range of options for decor items, from centerpieces to signage and table linens.
2. Local Vendors: Visit local bridal shops, florists, and event rental companies in your area. They often offer decor items for rent or purchase, and you can view them in person to ensure they fit your vision.
3. DIY: Get creative and make your own wedding decor! From handmade signage to personalized centerpieces, DIY projects can add a unique touch to your wedding while also saving costs.
4. Wedding Planners: If you've hired a wedding planner, they can assist you in sourcing decor items that align with your vision and budget. They often have connections with vendors and can negotiate prices on your behalf.
Is wedding decor expensive?
The cost of wedding decor can vary greatly depending on factors such as the size of your wedding, the type of decor you choose, and whether you opt for rental or purchase. While some decor items can be quite affordable, others, such as elaborate floral arrangements or custom-made installations, can be costlier.
To manage expenses, consider prioritizing your decor budget based on what elements are most important to you. Additionally, explore cost-saving options like DIY projects, renting decor items instead of buying, or opting for seasonal flowers and greenery.
How to design a wedding theme?
Designing a wedding theme involves several steps to ensure a cohesive and personalized aesthetic:
1. Inspiration: Begin by gathering inspiration from sources like Pinterest, wedding magazines, and real weddings. Consider elements such as color palettes, textures, and motifs that resonate with you and your partner.
2. Choose a Theme: Decide on a central theme or concept that reflects your style and personalities. Whether it's rustic, vintage, modern, or bohemian, choose a theme that speaks to you and sets the tone for your wedding decor.
3. Create a Mood Board: Compile your inspiration images into a mood board to visualize how different elements will come together. This will help you see how colors, textures, and decor items complement each other within your chosen theme.
4. Select Decor Elements: Based on your theme and mood board, choose decor elements such as centerpieces, table settings, linens, lighting, and signage that bring your vision to life. Consider how each element contributes to the overall ambiance of your wedding.
5. Personalize: Infuse personal touches into your decor to make it uniquely yours. Incorporate elements that reflect your love story, shared interests, or cultural heritage to add depth and meaning to your wedding theme.
6. Consistency: Maintain consistency throughout your wedding decor by sticking to your chosen theme and color palette. This will ensure a cohesive look and feel across all aspects of your wedding, from the ceremony to the reception.
