A Love Story Rooted in Friendship and Tradition

Anushi and Parth, who had been friends since school, realized they had deeper feelings for each other during their first year of college. After nearly seven years of being in a relationship, they celebrated their love in an intimate and traditional wedding ceremony. The couple envisioned "a small guest list with bigger spaces," which inspired a serene setup featuring a lily pond, floating oil lamps, simple floral arrangements, glittering mirrors on moli threads, and the soothing aroma of traditional dhoop, creating a magical twilight ambiance.

For their wedding invitations and decor, Anushi collaborated with her college best friend, Sagar Shah. An interior designer by trade, Sagar had branched out into graphics and visual communication and was also engaged in research on Hindi cinema's interior design trends. Sharing the couple's vision for the invite, Sagar said, “They wanted something deeply rooted in tradition, with a touch of traditional caricature elements." The unique invitation set included a custom-made clay vessel filled with shagun items like akshat (rice grains), kumkum, saakar (raw sugar), and a small Ganesha on sopari (betel nut), along with the main card detailing the wedding functions. The vessel was wrapped in fabric with screen-printed illustrations, tied with a nadachhadi (moli thread) and adorned with ghoongroo, symbolizing the couple's journey from friendship to marriage. The choice of packaging was meant to elevate the gesture of giving, using local artisans and traditional materials to craft each piece by hand with love. To retain authenticity, the invite was printed in Gujarati, the couple’s native language.

Handcrafted Packaging - A Wedding Planner Favorite Trend

Wedding planners increasingly recommend handcrafted, artisan-made invitations for couples hosting intimate weddings.
In this case:
The clay vessel was wrapped in fabric with screen-printed illustrations
Tied with a nadachhadi (moli thread)
Finished with ghoongroo, symbolizing movement from friendship to marriage
Local artisans were involved at every step, ensuring each invite was crafted by hand using traditional materials — a detail
that added emotional and cultural value.

Language, Culture & Authenticity in Wedding Invitations

To preserve cultural integrity, the wedding invitation was printed in Gujarati, the couple’s native language. Wedding planners often highlight language choice as a powerful way to honor heritage, especially for traditional ceremonies.

This thoughtful decision made the invitation deeply personal and meaningful for family elders and guests alike.

Photography & Conceptual Detailing

The wedding invitation design and overall conceptualization were visually documented with care, ensuring every handcrafted detail -from textures to symbolism -was preserved as part of the couple’s wedding story.

Why Wedding Planners Recommend Traditional Invitations for Intimate Weddings

According to experienced wedding planners, traditional invitations:
Create emotional resonance
Honor cultural roots
Elevate intimate weddings with depth and meaning
Support local artisans and sustainable practices
Anushi and Parth’s invitation is a masterclass in less is more, proving that tradition, when done thoughtfully, never goes out of style.
